I turn five today. Just a simple celebration with my classmates and family. My parents brought me to Science Centre to experience dinosaur LIVE. Not much photos though as most of the pics turn out quite dark : ( Nonetheless, I truly enjoy myself.

P.S : Thank you ibu for staying up till late night just to make sure my goody bags for my classmates are perfectly packed. Thanks to ayah too, for taking a day off to spent the day with me. I really appreciate both of your efforts.

I knew how much you both love me. Though at times I can be difficult, I hope you can continue to guide me through. Love you ayah, ibu and adik too : )

This time two years ago, my baby sister, Audra, was born. According to ibu, her labour was even faster when she delivered Audra than I. Let me bring you to through Audra birth journey…

Friday, 9th October 2009

Ibu had her routine medical check up on the 8th and was told by her gynae to report to Thomson Medical Centre at 9am the next day as her cervix had dilated.

Before ibu left home that morning, she gave me a kiss and told me that she needs to take adik out. Although I was unwilling to stay behind initially, I agreed after ibu promised that it will only be for a short while. I stayed behind with my grandparents while ayah and ibu went to hospital. I could see tears in ibu eyes though she tried to fight it away **weeps**

Upon reaching the observation ward, ibu blood pressure and cervix was examined. And true enough labour was on it’s way. Ibu was diagnosed with GBS in this pregnancy, hence she needs to be given antibiotics via IV prior to delivery as to prevent the risk of the group B strep being transferred to adik which can result in an infection.

After the cannula was inserted in ibu hand, her blood pressure and contractions are monitored via the CTG monitor. The gynae said that labour will only start around 4pm.

Time check 10.30am. Ibu asked ayah to buy her a magazine so that she can read to kill time. That time ibu have already started to feel mild contraction. Ayah told ibu he needs to leave for solat Jumaat at 11.30am. Bearing in mind what ibu's gynae had said earlier, that labour will only start around 4pm, ibu willingly tell ayah to go and not to worry about her.

The moment ayah leave ibu for the mosque, ibu contraction began to intensified. She tried to call out for the nurse but the pull cord switch to call the nurses drop to the floor whilst ibu was wriggling in pain. Fortunately a nurse walk in, ibu tried to call out for her though her voice was barely audible due to her pain. The nurse gave ibu a check, then said, ‘Don’t worry, the labour will not come so soon.’ Ibu was like WHAT!!!

Don’t they know that unlike first labours, it is more likely that subsequent labour will progress more quickly? However, ibu tried to stay calm by saying her zikir and just hope that time will pass quickly so that ayah could be by her side through the agonizing pain.

The next 1 hour was the most excruciating experience for ibu. The contractions got more furious and painful each time it came. Ibu decided to call out for the nurse once more but the pull cord switch had dropped yet again. Like duh~~ Lucky for ibu, a nurse came in to check on her at 1pm. She told the nurse that she can no longer hold. When the nurse saw ibu was out of breath. She finally said, ‘Ok, I will wheel you to the labour ward.’ FINALLY.

On the way there, ibu kept having the urge to push, so she did. The nurse told her to hold as the gynae was on her way. But the surges were getting stronger. They intensified every three minutes or so. Ibu was breathless. The midwife in the labour ward was getting all the apparatus for the birth ready. Then she came nearer to ibu and asked, ‘Are you alone?’ I think she must be thinking that ibu is a single mother or something **grin**.

The midwife told ibu to call ayah to be quick. Ibu tried to reach out for her phone with her trembling hands. Luckily Ayah number was stored as speed dial. Hence, ibu only need to press one number to reach him sshhesshhh. Ibu could barely talk when the line went through. Her only word, ‘cepat..dah tak tahan..’ Ayah tried to calm ibu down. However, he was stuck in a jam along the road to the hospital. Ibu cannot think sensibly by then, the pain just heap on. Ibu grabbed a bottle of air zam-zam, drink a little and pour the rest on her tummy. She called out to the midwife and told her that she really cannot take the pain any longer. The midwife was pretty sweet, maybe after seeing that ibu was all alone enduring the pain she came over and stroke ibu head and hold her hands, assuring ibu that everything will be fine. Ibu was quietly crying in pain.

1.45pm, the labour ward door opened. There stood ayah together with the gynae. Wah, they have to come at the same time right.. Very drama…

The moment ibu saw them… ibu start pushing. Three big pushes later, out came Audra at 1.53pm, weighing a hefty 3.74kg.

Yup, it was that effortless and true enough, like most mummy recount their birth experience, ibu pain fades almost instantaneously as soon as Audra was out, masyaAllah. However, ibu body trembles for the next half hour due to the extreme pain she was in previously. That’s my ibu! Strong and with great threshold power, she manage to go through her labour without any drugs.

As for myself, I stayed in ibu hospital ward and sleep on her hospital bed that night. Though I am now a Big Brother now. I know I will always be a baby in ibu eyes. I knew this because ibu told me so hheeee.

So that the birth story of my beautiful sister. Born on a blessed Friday, it is indeed a bliss for us to have her. Alhamdullilah.

Dear Audra, abang wish you health, wealth and happiness. Be a good daughter to our doting parents. May we grow up and make them proud. For that is the least we can do to pay back their endless and immeasurable sacrifice.

Festivity @ the santuary

Ayah turns 34 yesterday. My parents decided to have a break and went for a stay vacation at The Amara Sanctuary Resort, Sentosa. That means we get to stay in hotel over the weekend, YIPPIE! Have you not know that Audra and I love staying in hotels. I think we share the same sentiment with most of the kids out there. Right, guys? A new place, a new atmosphere and a whole lot to explore **grin**

Before we proceed, let me introduce you to my super awesome sidekick, whom by the way is turning TWO tomorrow.

Here are some pics of our hotel room. We stayed at the premier room which is just opposite the rooftop infinity pool and a tiny jacuzzi overlooking a beautiful view of the South China Sea. The pool was pretty vacant the whole time we were there. It seems like we had it all by ourselves… nice : )

And that’s why swimming was top in our agenda.

We went to Hollywood After Hours later that day. This is our second visit there. We love soaking in the mood there. Very the movie classic hhhheeeee

The following day we decided to check out the hotel dream pool and children's pool. We were barefooted because we thought it was just nearby our rooms. However, we end up in circles trying to located the pool which is located in the resort's landscaped tropical gardens. **ouch**

We still prefer our infinity pool though. Hence, we end up swimming there again after dipping in the children pool yyeeehhaaaa!!!

Since we are in Sentosa, we drop by the beach to get some fresh air : )

It was low tide when we reach. We can see lots of fishes near the shore. It was aplenty that Audra was so determine to catch one with her small plastic kerkerker… so funny …

The stay vacaton was indeed well spent with my family. Thank you ayah and ibu for bringing us along. Happy birthday Ayah! Hope you will be blessed with good health and wealth always so that we can go to more hotels **grin**.

My father signed me up for a 350m Kids Dash organised by the Young NTUC. It was an exciting experience taking part in the race with other enthusiast participants. I was presented with a finisher medal upon my run completion too. A great start for another new sporting beginning.

A long weekend was indeed a GREAT way to usher in the Year of the Rabbit. To begin, we headed to Singapore Zoo on the Eve of Chinese New Year. As always, I got to find out interesting information on animals during our visit. On this occasion, I learn bout the tapir. They are such harmless looking creature with fascinating myths. I was enthralled by the Orang Asli tale on the tapir till I searched high and lows for the mouse who painted the tapir with white stripe. Geezz...

The next day my parents decided to bring Audra and myself out for a stroll. I was very thrilled as I got to cycle at the park.

Then on Saturday, we visited Sentosa Flower display. The place was crowded till ibu and I lost ayah and Audra momentarily. Thanks to a staff who willingly borrowed ibu her handphone to contact ayah. Thanks ya!

The long weekend was indeed well-spend with my love ones. Before we begin our week ahead… let’s now enjoy Audra with her antics.

Le Tour de Langkawi

Now that ibu exams are over and the holiday season has started, we are going for a short getaway wwoohhhoooo. This time round, we are heading to the island of legends, Langkawi.

This is Audra and my first ever trip on an airplane. We manage to experience take off twice as there was a transit at Pulau Pinang. We are so very thrilled.

Btw, there was this embarrassing incident during checking in the resort. I was extremely thrilled looking at the breathtaking scenery from the lobby. I then dashed out to see the view…

and BOOM…

I banged onto the resort glass panel! Didn't realise it was there as it was gleaming clean. Nevertheless, the staffs were sweet. They offered ibu who was nursing my baluku a cool towel to ease the pain… and in no time… I back on my feet again hheeee

Besides visiting the lovely Pantai Cenang, we also visited Langkawi Underwater World. Underwater World Langkawi is said to be one of the largest marine and fresh water aquaria in South East Asia. They have plenty of exhibits like the Freshwater Fish exhibits, the Tropical Rainforest exhibits, the Coral Reef exhibits, the Sub-Antarctic exhibits and many many more.

We also visited the Oriental Village which was situated at the foot of Langkawi Cable Car. There was a strange but true incident while we were there. Allow me the share the story.. It was morning, so we would like to have something light for breakfast. Hence, we went into a stall at the Oriental Village. We looked at the menu and saw two half-boiled eggs with toast. So as I do not take half-boiled, my ayah requested for 2 hard-boiled eggs instead. The response that we received was amusing.

Seller : Maaf encik, kita tak ada hard-boiled eggs.
Ayah : HHmmm.. telurnya boleh masak sampai keras?

Ibu : Rebus telur macam telur orang jemputan kahwin…
(***seller goes to kitchen, maybe asked the chef)
Seller : Maaf encik, kita tak boleh buat.
Ayah : Tapi kenapa?
Seller : Pasal kita tak ada cetak dia…

Now you guys go figure it out.

We also visited Air Hangat Village and Durian Perangin Waterfall. It was amazing witnessing one of Allah greatest creation.

We also went over to Helang hotel to meet Tok Din, Nanny Anna, Tok Sidek & Nenek Roy who’s on vacation to Langkawi too.

Our days in Langkawi are quite jam packed. We only get to swim in the resort swimming pool on the last day of our trip.

Not long after, it’s time to bid farewell to Langkawi. From the daily soaking in the bathtub to the beautiful beaches to the wonderful scenery and the daily visit to the pasar malam. I love Langkawi.

Sending Nyai Faridah

Ibu has been busy the past few weeks as she is having her exams. Thank you ayah for babysitting us while ibu was busy studying. We are very delighted that ibu exams were finally over yesterday. Just in time to send Nyai Faridah off to Australia. Wwoohhooo….

We love to play pretend with each other. Like in this pic, we are pretending to go to school. Audra takes instruction well. Hence, playing with her is such an ease.

Remember the photo of me and Audra wearing these pajamas back in May. This is still the only matching outfit that we have to date kerker. Btw, the last pic is another one of us playing pretend. We are supposed to pretend sleeping hahaha…

Kakak Adawiyah’s Day

Kakak Adawiyah’s birthday falls on Wednesday, 3rd November. Since it was a school day, we decided to hold a mini makan-makan session for her today. Our family simply loves to get together because we enjoy each other company. My parents have taught me that happiness comes from practicing strong family values. When we enhance our relationships with one another, we will brighten the lives of those around us. In return, we will discover happiness in our life.

Hey all, it’s my Birthday. My parents bought me a Power Ranger cake for a mini celebration in school. Wow, I am so excited as this is my first ever celebration with my classmates. They sang me a birthday song too…

Thanks Atuk Sabtu for helping me transport the goodie bags to school so that I could distribute them to my classmates. I’m glad the goodie bag make my friends smile. Those smiles truly make my day.

I believe my pre-birthday and birthday celebration in school will not be possible without my IBU. With that ibu, this note is for you.

My parents and Audra pick me up from school and off we went to Jacob Ballas. It is great to spend your birthday with your family member’s isn’t it : )

And how did I end my DAY. . .? I had dinner at Woodlands and get to cut my third birthday cake... this time with Nyai Yah hhheeee..

I think ibu must be hesitant as she pauses real hard.

Ibu : HHmmm why 2? You’re 4.
Akif : (ggeezz how can I forget my age) Ah ya, 4. Then nanti ada ramai orang datang kan ibu, then boleh dapat banyak present like Audra.

But I guess that conversation somehow triggers this pre-birthday celebration.

It was a fine Saturday. Tok Sani and Tok Jali family initiated for a picnic at Sentosa. So there we are enjoying the sun, the sand and the sea.

We went to our neighboring country to have our lunch. Before we do that, Audra and I get to play at the indoor playground. Audra was ecstatic. The moment ibu put her in the play area, she never look back for a minute. She trip, stumble and fall but never surrender. My little sis is beginning to show the feistiness and adventurous side of hers: )

Btw, do u notice the coconut on the table. It was actually filled with otak-otak… My parents were awed by its taste. They said it was scrumptious and yummylicious. I on the other hand was taken aback by its weird name.

Nevertheless, I will try my best. I know I can with all the support my parents gave me. Surely, I do not wish my upper front teeth to flare out and tip upward … yikes…

Thumb sucking aside. There are other skills that I have learned to master slowly. Among others is reading… Yayi Ahmad helps me a lot in reading when ibu gets too busy to teach… Thanks Yayi.

Alhamdullilah... My dearest sister turns ONE today. Ibu and Ayah decided to hold a mini celebration for her just like what they did for me when I was one. I think they are trying to play it fair here heheheeee… It was an enjoyable celebration. I do ‘help out’ in setting up the place… see…

Audra was overexcited that day, sliding and cruising her way through the crowd. However, she turn coy and hid under the table when the birthday song was sang to her.. very funny..

It was really a fun and enjoyable celebration. Thank you all for making Audra’s first birthday a memorable one.

Apart of being Audra’s 10th month birthday, this long weekend was special as Singapore celebrated her 45th birthday. My family and I checked in a local hotel for a short getaway (P.S : Ayah love Singapore so much that he rejected Ibu’s idea to spent our hols at our neighboring country and he decides that we should have our hols here instead…very patriotic indeed…)

That aside, this year was extra special as we received a surprise visit on National Day. Grandpa Tom and Grandma Gwen ARE in town. I was indeed touched and humbled on the exertion Grandma Gwen took just to meet our family. Grandma Gwen, we truly appreciate it.

We took them to Taman Warisan and Masjid Sultan for sight seeing. It was great to have them with us.

Grandpa Tom and Grandma Gwen, Audra and myself would really love to visit and meet you again. Take good care of yourselves. We miss you both dearly : )

Audra was awake the whole time we were there. She was looking inquisitively at all the exhibit around her. When the Lake Hollywood Spectacular began, I was a bit anxious as we are really at the edge of the lake. The sounds and lights from the fireworks were very loud and bright. Audra on the other hand, was very mesmerized by the fireworks. She stood steadily and bravely till the whole fireworks display was over. Great job, adik!

Urgent : If anyone found the bow worn by Audra in this post, kindly notify me asap. My ibu was devastated when she found out that the ribbon dropped and lost its way. Previously, she had bought Audra the same bow which fell and gone astray too. Sadly, the new piece she bought dropped and vanished again today hahahahhahaaa…. Lucky, ibu never dolled me up with bows. Cause I bet, I will lose more bows than Audra did hehehehe….
